Boo

Boo, a black and white boy adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryBarney and Shirley Snow sent us a lovely email with some photos of Boo, a cat they adopted from us earlier in 2009...

Dear Chestnut Cat Sanctuary,

We want to let you know about our cat 'Boo', who we got from you on 21st February 2009.

At first Boo was very scared and would always run away from us and hide under the sofa. In the first few weeks he would find very strange places to sleep, including a bookcase.

Boo, a black and white boy adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryNowadays he likes to sleep in the box we gave him, or spend a lot of time asleep in the flower beds.

We thought we might change his name from 'Boo' to something else, but in the end we decided he would be better off as Boo.

It has taken some months for him to stop jumping and twitching every time we go near him but he's a lot calmer now and has settled in. He doesn't mind being picked up by my daughter (aged 8) but he doesn't like to sit on our laps. However, he never puts his claws out although he'll tap you with his paws.

At first we gave him wet food but after a time we realised he much prefers to eat dry food all the time and he looks pretty healthy on that diet.

Boo, a black and white boy adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryBefore we had Boo, many other cats treated our garden as their own, but since Boo got confident outside, he keeps the other cats away.

However there is another cat that we call 'the lookalike Boo' for obvious reasons. He has a spot on one cheek so we can tell who's who.

My daughter says that Boo is the best cat and that we love him.

Best wishes
Shirley Snow (aged 8)
Barney Snow (aged 43)

Thanks both for your email and photos!
