Cat Chat - find alternative rescue centres

Cat Chat logo - the cat rescue resourceThe cats we rehome at Chestnut Cat Sanctuary usually come from the Essex, Herts, North Kent and the Greater London area.

If you have a cat to rehome and you're outside this region, or if you can't wait for space at Chestnut Cat Sanctuary - fear not! Help is at hand through Cat Chat.

Cat Chat is a fantastic online charity organisation. It supports cat rescue centres and rehoming groups by offering free pages on its website, publicising cats that need new homes, and helping out with technical stuff like getting cat photos online.

These services are provided free of charge, and the Cat Chat website currently lists about 1,200 different cat rescue resources - from small independent rescue centres, to branches of large animal welfare organisations.

And, of course, this means Cat Chat is a great place to go if you're looking for cats and kittens to adopt! Cat Chat currently finds homes for over 5,000 rescue cats every year.

More about Cat Chat....
Rescue centres are still continually full with stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens, and despite the constant message of 'neuter, neuter, neuter!' it still seems there are too many homeless cats and too few homes. There are literally thousands of cats in care Cat Chat lists over 1,200 rescue centres and helps rehome over 5,000 cats each year!in the UK right now, and it is still a sad fact that many cats are put to sleep each year because there are simply not enough homes to go round. Cat Chat aims to do all it can to redress that balance.

Cat Chat is a Registered Charity (reg. no. 1100649) and was the very first solely Internet-based Charity to be registered in the UK. It receives no secure funding, so public donations play a vital part in enabling Cat Chat to continue to help rescues nationwide.

You can help them by making a donation, or by buying from the Cat Chat Shop, where there are many items exclusive to Cat Chat...check out their famous ‘Senior Kittizens Rock! (between naps)’ range, and help to promote adopting an older cat!

What people say...
The
Cat Chat website includes a huge number of rescue resources, from small independent centres to branches of large animal welfare organisations. For many rescue centres, Cat Chat is their main source of good homes and is often known as their "Rehoming Lifeline". At Chestnut Cat Sanctuary we get an awful lot of enquiries through Cat Chat, so we can well believe it!

Here are just a few of the lovely comments Cat Chat has received:

“What a fabulous, brilliant and exceptional and consistent site !!! It is getting to the stage where we can’t imagine being without you!! Big Big thank you and you are really appreciated”
Pennine Pen Animal Rescue, Oldham

“Well - you've done it again!! Both Splodge and Fluffy have got brilliant homes thanks to Cat Chat! We are delighted - homing is soooo hard but people seem to go to your virtual shelter thick and fast!! Thank you and lots of purrs from those lucky cats settling into their new homes.”
Belfast Animal Rescue

“You are a lifeline especially for the smaller charities like us. The number of prospective homes that the site reaches is incredible and some seriously long-term cats have been homed. Long live Cat Chat!”
