Funds needed to fix our drive and car park!
We urgently need to raise funds to fix the drive leading to Chestnut Cat Sanctuary from the main road, and mend our car parking area. Please help if you can!
The drive and parking area have become badly pitted. We need to fix them as soon as possible. If you can help, or know someone that can, please read on...
Fixing the driveway isn't just to make life easier for our visitors (although that would be reason enough). It's because the local Highways Authority is insisting that the last part of the drive, at least (the part leading onto the main High Road) is covered in a suitable hard material, such as asphalt, to ensure no debris enters the highway. It doesn't, of course, but rules are rules and we have to comply with their wishes.
Our driveway is about 350 feet long, which means we're set a good distance back from the road. It's great for the cats, but unfortunately it means we have a lot of drive to resurface. It already has a firm base coat. To fix up the whole drive with asphalt will cost somewhere in the region of £20,000, but if we compromise on asphalt for the entrance and gravel for the rest, we should be able to complete this work for nearer £10,000.
As you can see, funds are needed urgently. If you can help or know someone that can - for example, someone in the road surfacing business who could contribute materials and machinery - please contact us!
We'd be more than willing to give any company supporting us permanent sponsorship with a plaque on the main drive.
Thank you - please help us if you can!
