Olive and Archie

Olive and Archie, two older cats happily adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryWe had a lovely email and photos about two older cats, Olive and Archie, who have been adopted very successfully and are happily causing mayhem in their new home...

Hiya,

Thought I'd let you know how the monsters are doing as we've had them 2 weeks now :)

Archie, an older cat happily adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryBoth settled in extremely quickly, in fact far quicker than I thought possible as they'd been at the Sanctuary for so long. As soon as Olive was out of her carrier she had her nose in the food bowl whilst Archie went straight to the litter tray! A couple of hours later they discovered the sofa and that is now their permanent bed. We squeeze in where we can.

Archie is a lovely old boy, doesn't meow at all but fixes us all with his "Archie stare" this usually means he either wants feeding or a fuss. You only have to go near him and he starts purring loudly, he also snores, VERY loudly. He does like to come upstairs and call for me. Today he sat on my lap for the first time. He seems quite content to snuggle up to us on the sofa all evening.

Olive, an older cat happily adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryOlive on the other hand is a very busy, lively, bright young thing. I measured her waist when we got her, 22"!!!! I have friends with less. I measured her again today and she's lost 1.5". - I wish it was so easy. She still sleeps with Archie and still flumps all over the poor boy but he seems to like it.

She's fascinated looking out of the window into the garden and especially likes being held up so she gets a better view. Bit of a killer for my back as she's such a heavy madam! When she's not sleeping or looking out of the window she spends an awful lot of time on her back, legs in the air having her tummy tickled - a complete trollop!

Olive, an older cat happily adopted from Chestnut Cat SanctuaryHer exercise regime consists of playing with my tape measures and tearing up and down the stairs at full speed. For such a chunky lady she's actually a very nimble delicate little cat :)

They are both a joy to have. Olive has us in fits of laughter most days and I'd really urge anyone to take on 2 older cats. Olive and Archie, two older cats happily adopted from Chestnut Cat Sanctuary

No doubt if I ever get any photos of them when they aren't asleep on the sofa I'll post them onto your Facebook page, probably when they are allowed outside.

Thanks for letting us have them, be assured they seem very happy here :)

Hev Hayden

It's true - older cats are just as much fun. Thanks for your email and photos!
